Obama's Speeches Are Like Confetti

You want my view on Barrack Obama's speeches? I think they are very pretty, very flashy, attract a lot of attention but no real substance. It's just like that sparkly confetti thrown during the big New Year Eve parties. Like the confetti and like New Year's Eve too. How so? Well...

It's so exciting, a brand new year, the promise of a fresh and different start. You get all heady, drunk on the occasion, the confetti swirls all around you bright and beautiful. Then the next day it's back to work and you've got all that mess on the floor to clean up that suddenly isn't pretty anymore, just empty junk. You look for something real to hold onto from the night before and there is nothing. You are tired, hung over, depressed and let down. That's how I think we'll all feel if Obama takes the White House (which it looks like he will).

I don't need his promises without telling us how they will be implemented and how fast they will work. I want more than a rhythmic cadence that so engaging to the ear. Won't it be sad a year from now to be discovering that all the hype is over and all the expectations have waned in the face of what was nothing more than politics to take an election?
