The One Ring of Power Wedding Speech

Several years ago, I was the Maid of Honor at my best friend's wedding. She and her husband are both geeks: they are obsessed with Star Wars, Star Trek, and Lord of the Rings.

In order to make his wedding speech fun, and also to put it in language they would understand, my best friend's father made many references to their favorite show and movies. One particularly hilarious metaphor was when he called the wedding ring "the one ring of power" and spoke about the quest they would go through in life together with their rings.

I'm sure there were some people at the reception who had no clue what he was talking about, but most of us laughed because it was the perfect example to use for this impossibly sci-fi and fantasy obsessed couple!
