Dryness of lips and mouth when delivering a speech.

by Mtvbolayvar
(Ormoc City, Philippines)

Q: What can I do to lessen or prevent dryness of lips and mouth during my speech? I look awful every time I deliver my prepared speeches because I keep on licking my lips due to dryness. Will you please give suggestions.
Thank you.
Tess

A: This is a rather common problem, and what works for one may not for another. Some suggestions are; before speaking, put a thin coating of petroleum jelly on your lips. This will discourage licking. Also, there are several commercial products such as mouth sprays, gels, and washes to promote salivation. You just have to try what is available until you hit on what is effective for you.
