Importance of Public Speaking in Public Administration

by Christian
(Valenzuela , Metro Manila , Philippines)

Q. What is the importance of public speaking in my course on Public Administration?

A. Christian, thank you for a very good question! I will give you the short answer, but you have given me an excellent topic for the next newsletter. In public administration you will be involved in nearly every aspect of any business you work for, either in the private sector or public service. Public speaking can give you confidence not only when addressing large groups, but smaller groups or individuals. It will teach you how to organize your thoughts and keep the interest of listeners. Have you heard the phrase, "It isn't so much what you say, but how you say it."? This old saying may sound cliche, but it is very true. Public speaking will help in so many ways, that I will address them in the newsletter of December 16. If I gave prizes for good questions, you would definitely get one!
