A: This is a seemingly simple question with a rather complex answer! Public speaking has many purposes, possibly the least of which is the sharing of information. We use public speaking to to inspire to action, to change ideas and beliefs, to teach, to convince, to entertain. It is not simply busy work given by teachers and professors, but a way to equip students to better face the world, giving them needed skills and building self-confidence. Never underestimate the importance of public speaking!
